The enemy told me there was limited freedom in Christ, most things are possible with Christ, and I would always struggle with various things because that is just a fact of life. He convinced me God was not as good as I thought, I was not beautiful, and that God was not enough so I shouldn’t just seek God but also seek other things, like relationships. Tozer says, "The evil habit of seeking God-and effectively prevents us from finding God in full revelation. In the "and" lies our great woe." This is exactly what the enemy had me doing. The enemy had me so tied down and blinded so that I could not see. Until, until Christ came and did the impossible, gave me freedom, and set me free from the law of sin and death. He told me he was good, I was beautiful, and he was enough.
I have found that the more I seek Christ the more freedom I have. Just in the past few months God has enabled me to do several things I would have never been able to do or be less than a year ago. First, he gave me the courage to stand in front of over 100 people and sing into a microphone, but not just sing, get laughed at as well. I have struggled for many years with not wanting to sing loudly for people to hear me, even in church, because I know I am not that great. But, on that Sunday morning, not only did God give me the courage to sing he gave me the confidence to not feel embarrassed or humiliated when they laughed. (I had messed up a line in the song.) God also, gave me confidence in who he made me to be that I got cornrows several times even though they might have looked strange. Finally, God gave me patience and peace, so much so, that when I went on a trip and absolutely nothing (and I mean nothing!) went according to plan I was able to not just cope but actually enjoy myself.
There are so many other things I could tell that God has done for me, things I never believed could happen, but it would take me too long to tell about them all. My friend do not be discouraged. There is more to life and it is possible to be more than a conqueror through Christ! Satan will tell you, “It is not possible.” But, my friend, it is possible. I am living proof of what the living God can do, even in you. You can be comfortable with who God made you to be. You can be free, for good, from that one sin. You can do things you never thought you’d be able to do. Believe in God, my friend and he will do the work.
“Do not be disheartened, For I have news for you. It is no secret what God can do. What He's done for others, He'll do for you. With arms wide open, He'll pardon you. It is no secret what God can do.” -by Hamblen | |
