It's always great to come home, but one huge downside is not having my own car. Thus, I end up getting chauffeured around a lot and have had plenty of time to listen to some of these songs on the radio that I normally wouldn't choose to listen too. My Ma loves the country station and country is well known for their love songs. As I sit in the car listening to the words of these passionate love songs, I can't help but feel a deep sense of dissatisfaction and despair for not only the singers and songwriters, but all those I know who listen to them and are deceived by them. So many of these songs are about how one cannot live without another or how the person is their everything. Too many people believe that finding that one special person will complete them and make them happy. Then when they find him/her they idolize that person. It is quite understandable to love the person and care very much, but as a believer they simply cannot be your everything and you can live without them. Jesus must be your everything because without Him you cannot live. These songs seem so harmless and yet many of their messages are clearly against God. You can love your girlfriend/boyfriend or spouse but not more that Jesus. To be a disciple of Jesus you must be willing to give up your spouse (Luke 14:26) and live as though you had none (1 Cor 7:29). If you ask me we should be singing these kinds of songs to Jesus. What I write AboutMy posts are all about the Christian walk in some way or another. I do my best to make what I post worth reading, thus there are many more things that I write about but do not post. Some of my posts are my reflections on scripture or a quote, other posts are simply my testimony, and others still are letters of encouragement. I hope that you will be encouraged or challenged in your walk with Christ as a result. God Bless you, my friend.
