If we are rightly related to Christ then we will be able to discern (or judge) what we are doing to hinder God or ways in which we ourselves love other things first. We will also be able to hold someone else accountable (if we are rightly related to Christ). We will be able to discern (or judge) right from wrong and to tell others whether a certain action is a sin or not. Murder is wrong. So we can conclude that those who have murdered someone have committed a sin. That is it. That’s all we can conclude, but we can conclude this. To conclude this is not to say they are going to heaven or hell. Just to say they have sinned. Study I Cor 2:1-16, 3:1-5 and 5:3-4, and see how Paul “judged” others (he called them babies, in fact). Then, in light of what you just read in chapters 2, 3 and 5, read I Cor 4:1-5 and decide for yourself what you think Paul means.
I am writing about this because it seems that there is so much confusion on what is ok to do or say and what is not. As a result there is a lack of accountability in the Church, which of course, has led to a decline in morals across the board. Please do not be afraid to tell me areas that I can improve upon. I probably won’t like it at first, but I will appreciate it later. We need people to speak the truth in love, even if that love is like a sword that pierces right through us.
An Addendum
* I was thinking more about what I wrote yesterday (meaning what is written above) I realized that I should say a little bit more on the topic.
If you see someone sinning your job is to pray for that person and then forget their sin. Do not dwell on others' sin. Do not dwell on your sin. Instead dwell on the Cross of Calvary remembering the grace given to all of us there. Think on things that are above.
